Prahlad Kakar founded Genesis Film Production Pvt. Ltd. in 1977 and virtually invented local television advertising, after having assisted Shyam Benegal, one of India’s most renowned filmmakers. “To tell a story in 30 seconds in the most engaging way possible” remains Prahlad’s raison d’etre for remaining passionate about ad filmmaking even twenty-five years later. Genesis, as is common knowledge in the business, continues to train generations of dedicated filmmakers.
Through the years, corporations like Nestlé, PepsiCo, Britannia, Levers have continued to communicate their brand stories through PrahladKakar. Making films that capture the dreams and aspirations of his vast target audience, Prahlad has ruled the ad film making business and has won several awards for technical excellence, Innovation and creativity in advertising & marketing over the years in India.

Prahlad Kakar won both Gold and Silver awards including” Campaign of the Year” for the Pepsi commercials at AAAI in 1996. His Public service films for Ceat won awards at the New York Festival of Advertising. Commercials directed by Prahlad have also been nominated for Lions at Cannes.
30 years down the line Prahlad Kakar, earned himself a Lifetime Achievement Award by the IAAFA in the year 1999 and Genesis was awarded the top Production House for 2 years in a row for years 2003 and 2004 by the Brand Equity. Prahlad Kakar’s aesthetic sensibilities have found shape and form in the hundred of films done over a career that spans over 40 years. His impeccable story – telling, centred around the product, has always been the key to his success.
Prahlad’s passions include his Scuba diving school in the Lakshadweep islands and Andaman’s islands and his own brand of gourmet cooking. A staunch believer of living large, Prahlad Kakar has given shape to his myriad interests and effectively converted many into profitable ventures. His passion for food and people has proved instrumental in his association with a variety of restaurants, enabling him to introduce diverse tastes and styles of dining to the city of Mumbai.
Not without a social conscience, he is also the co-founder member of Reef Watch Marine Conservation, involved in creating Marine Awareness, education, scientific research and documentation. Both Prahlad and his wife Mitali, are certified Scuba Diving Instructors, having successfully running ‘Lacadives’, the premier Scuba diving school in the Kadmat and Bangaram Islands of Lakshadweep and presently in Wandoor, Andaman’s.
Today Prahlad is consulting with Companies to provide innovative solutions for promoting and brand building various products and services. Creative workshops, Motivational and Leadership interactive sessions for the top and middle management executives and university students to deal with current issues and future challenges specifically designed for every Company’s needs. After years of planning to venture into Education, both Prahlad and Mitali Kakar finally took a decision in 2016, to take their experience in Branding and Marketing Communication and mentor young individuals who wish to be in the Media business and eventually become successful entrepreneurs. Along with a team of young professionals PKSBE was launched in March 2016.

He joined BSE Ltd in December, 1996 as Head – Arbitration and Business Development. He has developed the derivatives segment of BSE Ltd and also actively involved in opening of regional centers across the country. Presently as Head – BSE SME, responsible for the development of this segment of BSE Ltd. He very successfully launched the SME Platform on 13th and thus BSE Ltd became the first Exchange to launch the Platform. Today BSE Ltd is the market leader in this segment with ninety two percent market share. Within a year this platform has 63 companies listed and another 15 companies are to be listed. The success of this platform has brought a lot of enthusiasm in the market and more and more companies and market intermediaries are coming forward to get the companies listed on this platform.

He is responsible for the complete indirect sales motion with both strategic partners as well as channel ecosystem worldwide. He is also responsible for market entry plans into new geographies. He brings with him 17 years of experience in multiple functions in Hewlett Packard Enterprise – most recently as Global Alliance General Manager at Corporate Strategic Alliances, prior to which he was Director, Global Alliances at HP Software.
Hemanth has incubated a new business by collaborating with HP Labs and successfully transferred technology to the business unit. He has led marketing programs such as Competitive Attack and Installed Base retention for HP in Asia Pacific. He has advised customers to move from competitive platforms to HP through IT Strategy assessments followed by porting and migration programs.
Hemanth is an Electronics & Communication (E&C) Engineer by training from SJCE, University of Mysore. He is an amateur astronomer, bibliophile and amateur photographer in his spare time. He is a fitness “freak”, health and yoga practitioner as well.
